Several federal educational institutions without heads

ISLAMABAD: Several top federal educational institutions including universities are running on the basis of adhocism as their heads have not been appointed since the last several months.  The posts of vice chancellors of the Quaid-e-Azam University, Allama Iqbal Open University, rector of International Islamic University, DG of National Institute of Science and Technology and Federal Directorate of Education, DG of Directorate of Workers Welfare and chairman PEMRA are lying vacant since the last so many months. The Higher Education Commission (HEC) had invited applications from all over the country for the appointment of vice chancellors and rector of Quaid-e-Azam University, Allama Iqbal Open University and International Islamic University. The applications were subjected to scrutiny and short listing was carried out. But the matter of issuing call up letter was assigned to the Ministry of Education and Training all of a sudden. The citizens have demanded the government to immediately induct heads of the educational institutes, particularly the universities in capital to ensure the smooth sailing of education system.
