Millennials secure Rs 1.6bn top university scholarships

* Students won 21 distinctions, including perfect scores in SAT-I 2400/2400

ISLAMABAD: The Roots Millennium Campus I-9/3, on Thursday organised a ceremony at the PNCA to honour its high achievers who have set new world records in the international examinations.Roots Millennium Schools is the first school in Pakistan to have had 8 Ivy League acceptances on 100% scholarship. Millennial students broke all world records and scored top positions in the world in all national and international examinations with 21 distinctions – attain perfect scores in SAT-I 2400/2400; received admission offers in the top national and international universities with full scholarships in the disciplines of physics, social sciences, arts, technology and engineering programs at world’s top universities including, Oxford, Cambridge, Yale, Princeton, Brown, Harvard, University of Pennsylvania, Columbia, Cornell, Stanford, MIT, Vanderbilt, Carnegie Mellon, UCLA, Darthmouth, Amherst, LSE, UCL, Kings College, Warwick, Manchester, Durham, Liverpool, Agha Khan University, GIKI, LUMS, IBA, NUST, NCA, UET. Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal was the chief guest. He delivered a key note address to the graduating class of 2014.Chaudhry Faisal Mushtaq TI, chief executive of Roots Millennium Schools, took the opportunity to express his thoughts on the impressive achievements and congratulated the top scorers. Chairman Senate Defence Committee Mushahid Hussain, Suhrab Hussain, high commissioner of Bangladesh, Joseph R Truesdale, chief of staff US embassy in Islamabad, Muhammad Zubair, minister of state for Privatisation, Senator Osman Saifullah Khan, Cuban Ambassador Jesus Zenen Buergo, Nadia Kamran from US embassy, Ambassador of Bosnia Nedim Makarevic, Khadija Bashir from Intel Pakistan,  Nishat Riaz, director British Council also attended.Faculty members, parental community, Roots alumni, entrepreneurs, senior government officers, community and political leaders graced the ceremony with their dignified and esteemed presence.Valedictorian 2014 Talal Almas was focus of the ceremony. He has set a new world record by scoring 22A* and 4A’s in O levels and a perfect SAT score of 2400/2400, besides received an unconditional Cambridge University admission offer with 50,000 GBP as Cambridge noon scholarship and 8 Ivy Leagues and MIT on 100% scholarship.Millennial student Rai Haris has scored a record breaking result in O levels at just the age of nine.  Usama Bin Shafqat, another Millennial, got into Yale and Princeton at 100% scholarship. He was awarded ‘Millennial Face of the Year 2014.’Another Millennial Arooj Naveed was awarded Entrepreneur of 2014. She has got a ‘Schuvert scholarship’ from Ohio Vesleyan.Later, a cake was cut and shields, medals and certificates were distributed among the high achiever students and teachers.
