Park Enclave development starts: CDA informs Senate panel


ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority on Friday informed the Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat that Park Enclave’s boundary wall had been constructed and development work of water, sewerage and electricity have also been started.The committee directed CDA to start the allotments to E-12 affectees on merit basis and accelerate the development work in Park Enclave. According to official documents, Park Enclave project of Capital Development Authority offered around 700 plots of 500 square yards to consumers in addition to 600 plots of various sizes. The project was launched by Capital Development Authority in July 2011 which was to be completed in two years. Later, in December 2013, the deadline was extended to March 2014 as those who had bought the plots had stopped paying instalments due to delay in development work.The Capital Development Authority member assured the senators that within five weeks, progress would be visible in various developmental works including Park Enclave. On the other hand, the committee members criticised the Capital Development Authority for failing to complete the Park Enclave project in time while at the same time a private developer in the same area had completed work. Chairperson of the committee Kalsoom Parveen also directed the Capital Development Authority to clear the remaining dues of the residents of Kuri. To this, the CDA official replied that around 1,800 people in Kuri area had been affected by Park Enclave project.The meeting of the committee held here in the Parliament House where Senator Kulsoom Parveen was in the chair and also attended by the Senators Najmaa Hameed, Sughra Imam, Rubina Khalid, Haji Saif Ullah Khan, Haji Ghulam Ali and Humayun Khan Mandokheil besides Capital Development Authority officials.Senator Najma Hameed said that first time in the history, the affectees of Sector E-12 handed over their properties to the Capital Development Authoritywillingly but the authority was not issuing the allotment letters.Chairperson, Kulsoom Perveen said that all the issues in the authority were due to the negligence of some ineligible officers of Capital Development Authority.Member Capital Development Authority, Shaista Sohail informed the committee that all the issues have been settled with the affectees of E-12 and alternate plots would be given to them in I-12 sector. She said that the allotment to the affectees would be started within 15 days.Moreover, she said that the development works of water, Sewerage and Electricity have also been started. The committee expressed serious concern over absence of Chairman Capital Development Authority and senior official of ICT in the meeting. The chairperson said that members of the committee attend meetings besides their personal business for the sake of public problems and betterment of the institutions. She said that heads of the institutions were also answerable to the Parliamentarians as Parliamentarians were answerable to the people. She said that the constitutional action would be taken against chairman Capital Development Authority if he will not attend the next meeting of the committee.
