Govt departments directed to speed up anti-dengue campaign

RAWALPINDI: Punjab Labour and Manpower Minister Raja Asfaq Sarwar has said that all the government departments should speed up their anti-dengue efforts on emergency basis to keep the dengue under control in the months of August and September so that the city remains dengue free this year. He said that the government departments, which continued their anti-dengue campaign during Eid holidays, deserve praise.He expressed these views while presiding over an anti-dengue review meeting in the commissioner’s officer. CM’s Special Assistant Malik Salim Iqbal, Punjab Housing Minister Tanveer Aslam, Station Commander Brigadier Zahid Ahmad Rana, DCO Rawalpindi Sajid Zafar Dall, MNA Tahira Aurangzeb, Asfandyar Bhindara, MPAs Advocate Raja Hanif, Ch Sarfraz Afzal, Lubna Rehan, Tehseen Fawad, PML-N’s leaders Sardar Nasim and Shakil Awan, senior officers of the Health Department, Education Department, Agriculture Department, Environment Department, TMOs of Rawal and Potohar Town, and the concerned official were also present on the occasion. The Punjab Labour and Manpower minister said that the owners of the tyre shops, workshops, hotels, plazas, shops, CNG and petrol stations, and other commercial places should take steps to ensure that their places are free of dengue otherwise, stern legal action would be taken against them. He said in the wake of the monsoon rains, all government departments should speed up their anti-dengue efforts and the people should also keep their houses and surrounding areas, clean and dry.He said that the administrators of the Rawal and Potohar Towns should ensure cleanliness of all the graveyards in their areas because due to the recent rains, the graveyards could be the potential breeding-grounds of the dengue larvae. He said that the departments concerned of the Punjab government and the CDA should make joint efforts to eliminate the heaps of garbage from the IJP Road. Station Commander Brigadier Zahid Ahmad Rana said that the departments of the cantonment areas would cooperate closely with the relevant departments of the Punjab government, to eliminate the dengue because it can only be eliminated with joint efforts. DCO Sajid Zafar Dall said that the district administration is making all-out efforts to eliminate the potential breeding-grounds of the dengue larvae. Moreover, various government departments briefed the meeting about their anti-dengue efforts.
