Water shortage in various sectors despite heavy rains

ISLAMABAD: The resident of various sectors of the capital are facing acute water shortage despite the heavy monsoon rains. Many sectors including I8, I9 and I10 were witnessed water supply problems for several days, despite the water level had increased in the dams. While talking to the media personnel, a resident of Sector I9/2, Sajjad Shah said that the suspension of the water supply had become order of the day, which was annoying the residents of the area. He said that he did not have water, even for ablution. Muhammad Ali, a resident of Sector I10/1, said that he had been facing the water shortage for the last two days, forcing him to buy water tankers. Another resident of Sector I10/1, Daud Ali said that they are facing the problem of clean drinking water, as most of the filtration plants are out-of-order. In some sectors, the water supply is available for only half-an-hour, insufficient to meet the requirements of the people, the residents claimed. They said that they had lodged several complaints with the relevant departments requesting for a water tanker to meet their daily needs, but the department concerned of the CDA did not respond. CDA’s spokesperson Asim Khichi claimed that there was not water supply shortage found in any sector of the capital as the water level in the Simli Dam and the Rawal Dam had risen. He, however, said that if any complain was found in this regard, the authority would immediately take action.
