Margalla Festival kicks off

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) kicked off its ten (10) day Margalla Festival at the Arts and Craft Village.An anthology of Pakistani folk music representing all parts of the country, the festival would conclude on June 15. CDA member Shahid Sohail was the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony. Leading off the festival, Sohail said that the CDA has always been at the fore front to promote the cultural activities in the city. The residents of the city need healthy recreational activities and the CDA has always proved it, he said. The Margalla Festival is not only a musical show but a bouquet containing flowers of folk music from around the country.Folk performers and musicians from Gilgit-Baltistan to Karachi and Kashmir, and from Balochistan to Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are performing at the festival, the CDA member said. Performers including singers, musicians, and dancers from different parts of the country would entertain the audience during the ten-days of the CDA festival. The first day of the festival witnessed folk singers from different parts of the country performing on the stage. Folk dancers representing different cultural backgrounds of the country also remained busy with their performances. A large number of people attended the first day of the festival.
