ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has summoned acting chairman of PEMRA on June 9 over a plea of a private member of the authority.
Mian Shams, a private member of the media watchdog, pleaded to the court that the meeting convened by the authority was in violation of the court orders.
PEMRA, in a meeting attended by only government members, on Friday suspended the license of Geo News for 15 days and imposed a fine of Rs 10 million over a complaint by the Defence Ministry.
Another PEMRA member, Israr Abbasi, said the decision will be challenged in the court. He called the PEMRA’s Friday session as illegal.
