CDA’s Margalla Sports Festival concludes

ISLAMABAD: The three-day Margalla Sports Festival organized by Capital Development Authority (CDA) concluded on Friday at the National Cricket Ground.Director General Sports and Culture, CDA Asif Shahjhan was the chief guest of the concluding ceremony of the event which was held here at National Cricket Ground, Jinnah Supper Market , F-7 Sector. General Secretary CDA Mazdoor Union (CBA), Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin was also present on the occasion. The festival was started on Tuesday in which tournaments of different games including Cricket, Football, basket ball, lawn tennis, rugby and hockey were played. The festival was held at different grounds of the city.Chairman CDA, Maroof Afzal has appreciated the Directorate of Sports and Culture CDA for organizing successful festival. Stressing on the important role of sports in personality grooming of the youth, Chairman CDA directed the Directorate of Sports and Culture to continue with such activities in future as well. He assured full patronage and support of the CDA administration for promotion of sports in the city. On the concluding day of the festival, final matches of different games were held. Boots pharmacy Cricket Team won the inter-departmental tape ball cricket tournament by defeating the University of Sargodha team in the final match. The inter-departmental tape ball tournament was participated by sixteen teams. Similarly, Pak-Turk School won the inter-school football tournament by defeating Najam Model School, Jhangi Saidaan in the final match. Inter-club football tournament was participated by sixteen teams. Mehran Football Club defeated Huma football club in the final match and won the title of the tournament.Muhammad Ali Jinnah University (MAJU) defeated Mehar Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University in the final match of Inter-University basketball tournament. The Inter- University basket ball tournament was played by eight teams. Pak-Turk school defeated the City School in the final match of inter-school lawn tennis tournament. Six teams participated in the Inter-School lawn tennis tournament. Jins Rugby club defeated British High Commission to win the final match of inter-club rugby tournament. Thirty two (32) teams took part in the inter-club hockey tournament. IMCB G-10/4 team defeated IMCB F-7/3 team in the final match of boy’s category of Hockey tournament. A large number of people from different walks of life attended the concluding ceremony. Prizes were also distributed among the winning teams.
