Kashmir Highway expansion project pending


ISLAMABAD: The expansion project of the Kashmir highway which was to complete on February, 2013 is still in doldrums, however one of its part has been opened for the traffic. The Kashmir Highway expansion project which was estimated to be completed at a cost of Rs 4.8 billion was to be completed in February, 2013 however, later the completion date was extended to June 2014. The sources said that the CDA did not pay Rs 35 million in the first part and Rs 250 million in the second part to contract firms due to which they stopped working. The authorities concerned said that it is true that the project stopped due to the non payment of the funds in time, but as the funds have been provided in the budget 2014-15 of PSDP and CDA, this project would be completed within two to three weeks.
