8,000 rehabilitated under project to combat abusive child labour

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development has helped to rehabilitate 8,000 children, under a project launched to combat the abusive child labour. The project, launched in collaboration with the International Labour Organisation (ILO), has been completed in Sahiwal and Sukkur. The sources at the Ministry on Wednesday said that the government of Punjab has planned to launch similar projects in other districts with its own resources while the Labour Departments. The sources said that the provinces are also working to introduce schemes to combat child and bonded labour. The Punjab has allocated Rs 500 million and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rs14 million in their annual development plans to combat child labour.
