AIOU points out illegal dispatch of books

ISLAMABAD: The Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has detected illegal dispatch of helping books to the students by a Lahore publication house.The AIOU students have been advised neither to accept the said books, nor to pay any fees to the postmen. This was stated by AIOU Admissions Director Syed Ziaul Hasnain, according to a press release. He said that the Jadran Publications, Lahore had dispatched course books to the AIOU students through VPP service of Pakistan and charged Rs 1,100 each. “We wish to inform for the information of everyone concerned that the said publication house is not authorised to do so,” he added. Husnain said that the university was serving a legal notice to the publication house for the illegal act. He said that the students, who had not received the books from the AIOU, would get them within a week.On the other hand, the AIOU has completed the appointment of tutors for the spring semester, and has placed their particulars on its website The students enrolled in SSC,HSSC, BA/BCom, BEd, PTC, CT, and ATTC programmes have been advised to check their tutors information from the university website. Similarly, the regional offices across the country including the regional campuses of Rawalpindi, Abbottabad, Attock, Chakwal, Chitral, Dera Ghazi Khan, Dera Ismael Khan, Dera Murad Jamali, Faisalabad, Gilgit, Gujranwala, Hyderabad, Jhang, Kalat, Karachi, Lahore, Larkana, Mirpur, Mianwali, Multan, Mithi, Muzaffarabad, Rahim Yar Khan, Sahiwal, Sialkot, Skardu, and Sukkur have also placed tutors information on the university’s website. All the appointed tutors have been advised to send information letter immediately to all the enrolled students, in addition, the students can also check their tutor’s information on the website.
