ISLAMABAD: Home gas appliances, especially heaters and geysers, manufactured in the country, are only 30 percent efficient as compared to the ones, used in Western countries which are up to 88 percent efficient, said experts in the field of oil and gas sector.
They advised the domestic consumers to use good quality of gas appliances, not only to save this precious commodity but also lives of their dear and near ones.
“Our home appliances especially room heaters and geysers are 30 percent efficient while their efficiency in Western countries is up to 88 percent,” an expert who monitored manufacturing of gas home appliances told APP here on Sunday.
He opined that an awareness campaign should be launched for gas conservation making the domestic consumers more cautious in using this cheapest fuel as well as saving their hard earned money.
Commenting on shortage of gas, he said the gas production and supply in the country remained almost the same consecutively for the last three years while its demand witnessed an upsurge due to mushrooming of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations and the industrial units.
The experts also advised the consumers to take special care and adopt all precautionary measures while using gas appliances to avoid untoward incidents during the winter season. The gas appliances of good quality should be used and a trained plumber should be engaged to rectify gas leakage in houses.
The consumers should keep open at least one window in a room while using gas heaters and avoid using rubber pipes.
The consumers should desist from using electric fan or exhaust fan in case of leakage of gas and keep windows open. The consumers should not forget switching off the heater before going to bed.
