Rescue teams dispatched to low-lying areas

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has dispatched the relief and rescue teams headed by the magistrates to the low lying and cantonment areas after heavy downpour in the capital on Thursday, which increased the water level in Simly Dam and Rawal Dam.The rescue teams consisting of civil defence volunteers and police personnel would provide help to the affected people in the areas, including Korang Town, Azeem Town Sihala, in the wake of torrential monsoon rains in the city, the source in the ICT administration maintained. It is pertinent to mention here that the current monsoon rains have badly effected the life of the citizens.He said that all effective measures are being ensured for the protection of life and property of the people and all the protective measures are in place. He said that the administration would announce to set up a control room within 24 hours for maintaining effective coordination with the departments concerned and they have been alerted to cope with any flood situation. He said that effective relief measures are being ensured in the affected areas. The people living in the low-lying areas are also being shifted to safer places. The source further informed that effective measures were also underway along the low-lying areas near Rawal Dam and Simly Dam and the people living in these areas are being shifted to safer places to avoid any untoward incident.
