Pak security official killed by Afghan firing

ISLAMABAD: A Pakistani security official was killed on Sunday by firing from Afghanistan in the mountainous border tribal region of Bajaur, military officials said.
The military said in a statement the incident happened at 11:45. It was unclear whether the firing came from Afghan forces or from Pakistani or Afghan militants hiding across the border. “We don’t have more information yet. We can only confirm that a security official was killed because of firing across the border in Bajaur region,” said a senior military official when contacted for details. Pakistani and Afghan militants each have sanctuaries in the other’s country. Cross-border attacks are common on the Pak-Afghan border, irking Islamabad which has lodged protests with Kabul several times.
