IHCBA, DBA observe strike against court attack

ISLAMABAD: Lawyers of the Islamabad High Court Bar Association ((IHCBA) and District Bar Association (DBA) on Tuesday observed a complete strike on the call of the Pakistan Bar Council and boycotted the court proceedings to protest against the terrorist attack on District Courts in sector F8, which claimed the lives of 11 people, including an additional sessions judge, and injured 29 others.
The legal fraternity strongly condemned the incident and demanded arrest of the culprits involved in the attacks. General Secretaries of IHCBA and (DBA) have demanded of both the federal and provincial governments to ensure foolproof security at all courts and judicial complexes so the legal fraternity can work in a secure environment. General Secretary IHCBA Shireen Rehman talking to this agency asked the federal government to build court complex for lawyers immediately, so that courts could be shifted there.
She also termed the district administration responsible for the incidents which took several lives. Flaying the security arrangements at the F 8 courts, General Secretary DBA Naeem Gujjar stated that they have been demanding for removing the loop holes at the premises of courts but the administration turned deaf ears towards their demands. Gujjar stated that the walk through gates at F-8 district courts were out of orders and scanners were not functioning at all which gave open ground to terrorists to carry out their nefarious designs.
He urged the government to ensure fool proof security arrangements at all the courts, especially at district and high court level in order to pervert such incidents in future and saving loss of precious lives.
