20 lawbreakers arrested; drugs, weapons seized

RAWALPINDI/ISLAMABAD: The Rawalpindi police in its drive against the anti-social elements have arrested 14 lawbreakers, besides recovering 2,100 grammes of charas, 16 litres of wine, three pistols of 30 bore with seven rounds, two revolvers of 32 bore with six rounds, and one dagger from the possession of the accused. According to the police spokesperson, the Pir Wadhai police held a man for having 540 grammes of charas. The Waris Khan police netted another accused and recovered 530 grammes of charas. The Sadiqabad police apprehended a man for having five litres of wine. Others accused were sent behind the bars for possessing illegal weapons, drugs, and other items.On the other hand, the Loi Bher police have arrested five dacoits who used to barge in houses and loot valuables after cutting iron grills and locks, besides recovering nine motorbikes and other items worth hundreds of thousands of rupees from them, a police spokesperson said. According to reports, SP (Rural) Zubair Ahmed Sheikh constituted a special team to arrest the gangsters involved in looting houses. This team, headed by DSP (Rural) Malik Tahir Mehmud also included Loi Bher Police Station SHO Ch Abid, Sub-Inspector Muhammad Ishaq and others, which worked hard to trace the culprits involved in such heinous crimes. The team arrested five dacoits who confessed to barge in houses and loot the valuables after cutting iron grills and locks. They confessed that they used to storm in the houses at Swan Garden, River Garden, and other residential areas adjacent to them.
