CDA kicks off flower show


ISLAMABAD: The 32nd Annual Spring Flowers and Birds Show kicked off at the Rose and Jasmine Garden on Friday.This three-day exhibition has been organised by the CDA in collaboration with the Islamabad Horticultural Society (IHS). CDA Chairman Maroof Afzal inaugurated the Spring Flowers and Birds Show. On this occasion, Engineering and Environment Member Sanaullah Aman, officers of the Environment Wing and the representatives of the HIS were also present.Speaking on the occasion, Afzal said that flowers are a part and parcel of our life as they add beauty and fragrance not only to our gardens but also to our lives and our homes. He said that apart from beautification, flowers and roses are a great source of recreation and entertainment for the residents and such exhibitions encourage people to plant flowers at their homes. Afzal added that this flower and bird show would help promote the soft a image of our country in the world, as many foreign diplomats would also visit the exhibition.The CDA chairman said that the CDA has allocated sufficient funds for the beautification and maintenance of the parks in different sectors of the capital. He said that a tourist train has also been made operational, which provides best recreation facilities to the residents. The CDA is endeavouring to plant environment friendly new indigenous varieties of flowers and trees on the highways, roads, bridges and green areas, he added.
