Radio Pakistan to air special programmes on Defence Day

ISLAMABAD: The Radio Pakistan while upholding its unprecedented role during the 1965 war has devised a special strategy to highlight the matchless sacrifices of the nation, particularly the valiant armed forces on the occasion of the Defence of Pakistan Day. It may be recollected that after the enemy attacked the Pak territory on September 6, 1965, prominent artistes including Noor Jehan, Shaukat Ali, Nasim Begum, and eminent poets thronged the Radio Pakistan’s Lahore station, and through their poetic works and performance infused a new spirit in the nation. Acknowledging the Radio Pakistan’s role, Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was compelled to say that half of the war was won by Radio Pakistan. The national songs recorded by the Radio Pakistan during the war, would be the part of the programmes. Besides, the interviews and impressions of ghazis of the war and eyewitness account of common citizens would be put on air from all the stations of the national broadcasting organisation.
