ISLAMABAD: A court in Islamabad on Saturday ordered registration of a case against Geo Television, Jang Group and journalist Amir Mir for levelling allegations against the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) over attack on Hamid Mir.
Additional Sessions Judge Jehangir Awan ordered registration of FIR against the owner of Geo News Mir Shakil-ur-Rehman and journalist Amir Mir under sections 6-B and C of the Anti-Terrorism Act for levelling allegations against the ISI.
Petitioner Arshad Butt had filed a plea in the court under section 154 Cr PC, seeking registration of case against Mir Shakil and Amir Mir, the brother of television anchor Hamid Mir.
Amir Mir, while talking to the Geo TV, had alleged that ISI chief was involved in attack on his brother in Karachi last month.
On the other hand, counsel for Geo and Jang Group Faisal Khan argued that petitioner was not an aggrieved person. He said the Islamabad High Court had already dismissed a plea on the same grounds. However, the court directed the Margalla police station SHO to register an FIR against those involved in defamation of army and the ISI.
