FIA DG tenders apology to IHC in OGDCL case

ISLAMABAD: The FIA Director General (DG) has tendered apology to the Islamabad High Court (IHC) for using the name of this court by a director of the FIA in a letter written to the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) asking it to present record.He informed the court that a letter was written by the FIA director asking the OGDCL to produce record and he used the name of IHC in this letter. "I offer apology on it and no such things would take place in future," he said. A single bench of the IHC, led by Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui took up Zahirud Din Babar versus federation case for hearing on Thursday. FIA DG Ghalib Ali Bandesha and Law Deputy Director (DD) Qaisar Mehmood appeared in the court.Siddiqui inquired from the FIA DG on how a director of the FIA could seek record from the OGDCL by using the name of the IHC. "Why it was done so and what action was taken by you against the director," the judge asked. The FIA DG while tendering apology to the court said that a mistake had been committed by the FIA director and he "accepts it". "We request the court to forgive this mistake," he added. Siddiqui remarked, "What is going on inside the FIA is known to all. There is no need to tell anyone about it." The court, while accepting the apology offered by the FIA DG adjourned the hearing of the case.
