AIOU offers SSC to PhD level admissions

ISLAMABAD: The Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has started offering secondary school certificate to PhD level admissions for the autumn semester.The admission forms and prospectus can be obtained from the sale points at the main campus, regional campuses, and the coordinating offices across the country. AIOU Admissions Director Syed Ziaul Hasnain said that the admission forms and the prescribed fee can be submitted in the countrywide branches of Bank Al Falah, Habib Bank Ltd, First Women Bank, Allied Bank, and at the nominated branches of the National Bank of Pakistan and Muslim Commercial Bank.According to Hasnain, the admission forms and the prospectus of matric, FA, and BA level programmes for the Pakistanis in the Middle East can be obtained from the website of the university. The last date for the submission of the admission form is September 5. The admission forms have already been dispatched to all the continuing students, however, if any student has not received the admission form, he/she can download it from the AIOU website and deposit in any designated bank branch with fee till the due date to avoid the late fee charges.He said with the recent judgment of the Lahore High Court and the notification of the HEC, the condition of GAT test for the admissions of MPhil and PhD has been removed. The students seeking admissions in the higher education (MPhil and PhD) would not be required to pass the GAT test, conducted by the National Testing Service (NTS). He said that the entry test for the admissions in these programmes would now be conducted by the relevant departments, as per the requirement of the HEC and rules and conditions laid down under the university’s charter.The further said that the details about the admissions could be obtained from Information Management Unit, Admission Department at Ph number 051-9057151, information about teacher training programmes on 051-9057426, secondary programmes on 051-9057431, higher secondary on 051-9057432, bachelor programmes on 051-9057435, while for further information of the postgraduate programmes on 051-9057422.
