PRCS to increase number of volunteers to 5m by 2015



ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) on Monday said that it has decided to pay special attention to volunteerism to increase the number of volunteers to five million by the next year. PRCS Chariman Saeed Elahi said that helping humanity is a noble endeavor and all those engaged in it deserve to be commended for their selfless community services. He said that the PRCS has decided to unleash the power of volunteerism to help humankind during natural and man-made disasters. Elahi said that formulating a motivated and committed human capital in important so that they can make a difference in someone's life. He said that the PRCS has introduced a 24/7 helpline to provide reliable information and support; a latest ambulance service (1030) has been launched in the capital, while a hospital has been completed in the city with the help of the Turkish Red Crescent Society and other partner organisations. Speaking on the occasion, Murtaza Mughal said that we would not need any foreign aid after disasters if the business community sacrifices a small portion of their profits to serve the needy.
