Committees formed to ensure implementation of rate list


ISLAMABAD: As many as 20 price committees would ensure strict implementation of the prices of different food items fixed for the month of Ramazan in the capital city.In this regard, the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has activated the price-control committees headed by the magistrates, besides fixing the rates of the food items. The rates of the food items fixed are dal chana (bareek) Rs 62 per kilogramme, dal chana (moti) Rs 70 per kilogramme, dal moong (bareek) Rs 130 per kilogramme, dal moog (moti) Rs 170 per kilogramme, dal mash Rs 140 per kilogramme, basin Rs 70 per kilogramme, samosa per dozen Rs 156, pakora Rs 190 per kilogramme, jullebi, Rs 200 per kilogramme, milk Rs 80 per litre, and dahi Rs 90 per kilogramme.The shopkeepers have been directed to display the rate list of the food items prominently at their shops. The price-control committees are to carry out daily price checking in the markets and to impose heavy fines on the profiteers. Overcharging of the food items would not be allowed in any case and on-the-spot action would be taken against the profiteers. The administration has also set up a control room at phone no 0519108084 to promptly attend the complaints relating to prices and quality of the food items. The magistrates would take immediate action on such complaints on the spot.Meanwhile, the traders of the Sabzi Mandi have announced to voluntarily reduce the profit margin from 5 to 10 percent on fruits and vegetables during the holy month of Ramazan in order to provide maximum relief to the consumers. They also apprised that steps have been taken to ensure smooth and abundance supply of food items coming from other cities during Ramazan. The food department officials informed that the food inspectors are fixing the prices of fruits and vegetables in the Sabzi Mandi, Islamabad, on a daily basis, at the time of auction, and the rate list is being supplied to the shopkeepers immediately for display and strict implementation.
