750 teachers transferred under re-allocation policy

RAWALPINDI: The transfer of 750 male and female teachers of the Rawalpindi district to other schools under the re-allocation policy has triggered unrest among the teachers. Under the directives of the government of Punjab, the Directorate of Education Rawalpindi (DER) has transferred 98 teachers from Tehsil Kotli Sattian, 100 from Murree, 92 from Kahuta, 195 from Gujjar Khan, 59 from Taxila, 45 from Kallar Syedan, and 290 from the city to other schools located in the remote areas under the re-allocation policy. This step has put the female teachers in perpetual mental agony as they have been transferred to such areas which are located at long distance from their home stations and they cannot even return to their homes. The teachers' community has voiced strong protest over these unjust transfers of their fellow beings from their respective tehsils to other tehsils, and has demanded the government to withdraw these orders forthwith.
