212 dastarkhawans arranged for Ramazan


RAWALPINDI: Around 212 Ramazan Dastarkhawans are being arranged in the Rawalpindi division for the poor, deserving people, and the travelers. The Ramazan Dastarkhawans are being arranged at the petrol pumps and CNG filling stations, besides open places.According to Rawalpindi Commissioner Zahid Saeed, 39 Ramazan Sasta Bazaars were being established in four districts of the Rawalpindi division, including 19 in district Rawalpindi, eight in Chakwal, six in Attock, and six in Jhelum. Saeed said that the stalls of vegetables, fruit, mutton, beef, poultry products, utility stores, and other daily use items are available in the Ramazan bazaars to ensure provision of basic items to the consumers and the citizens at adequate rates. He said that the colour of wheat (atta) bag being sold in the Ramazan Bazaars are green, while the atta bag being sold in the open market at subsidised rates are orange.The officers concerned have been directed that instead of imposing fines, the profiteers and the shopkeepers indulged in artificial price hike should be rounded-up after registration of the cases, particularly during the holy month of Ramazan. The District Price Control Committees and the price control magistrates have also been directed to strictly control the prices of daily use items, he said adding that under the Ramazan Package by the Punjab chief minister, 10 kilogramme bag of wheat is available in the Ramazan Bazaars at subsidised rate of Rs 310 and at rate of Rs 330 in open market, while the sugar is available at a subsidised rate of Rs 46 in the Ramazan Bazaars. He said that the consumers and citizens can lodge their complaints about price hike on a toll free number 0800-02345.
