PIMS vaccination certificate centre efficiently assisting citizens

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) polio vaccination certificate centre is efficiently working to facilitate the citizens.According to the hospital sources, a staff is working in the centre to help those citizens who want to travel abroad. They said that several people visit the centre daily to obtain a polio vaccination certificate, which is issued after administering the vaccine. They said that polio vaccination is declared mandatory and international travelers would not be allowed to travel out of Pakistan without these polio certificates.They said that it is mandatory for every citizen who wants to travel abroad to receive at least one dose of the anti-polio vaccine before traveling abroad. The sources at the Ministry of National Health Services said that over one million certificates have been handed over to the provinces, with an instruction to ensure that every person traveling abroad would be vaccinated. They said that the vaccination centres have been opened at all international airports while the government hospitals are also issuing the certificates. “The government is doing the efforts to eliminate the menace of polio from the country,” they said.It is pertinent to mention here that the relaxation extended to Pakistan by the World Health Organisation (WHO) had expired. After that, all the Pakistanis traveling abroad are required to present a polio vaccination certificate at the time of departure. A grace period was requested by the Ministry of National Health Services, which asked the WHO to allow Pakistan to prepare itself for the vaccination regime before making it mandatory for all international travelers.
