EPA seals 67 places under anti-dengue drive


RAWALPINDI: The Environment Protection Agency (EPA), under its ongoing anti-dengue drive sealed 67 places where the dengue larva was found. EPA District Officer Mian Mohammad Nawaz said that strict action is being taken against the violators to save the public from the spread of dengue mosquitoes. The EPA teams also removed stagnant water from 107 dengue-breeding sites, he informed. Nawaz further said that the EPA teams visited 827 points, including 430 tyre shops, 333 junkyards, 22 nurseries, and 71 under construction sites during the period. He said that the tyre shops, hotels, restaurants, nurseries, under construction sites, and other vulnerable points are regularly being checked and special inspection is conducted to check the dengue mosquito larva. FIRs were also lodged against 17 violators while fines amounting to Rs 125,500 were also imposed. The EPA would continue to conduct such raids until the dengue mosquito was eliminated, he added.
