KARACHI: Police on Saturday arrested 11 suspects during separate raids in different areas of the city. Police arrested five accused identified as Mahmood Ali, Taimoor, Waheed, Ashfaq and Riaz alias Barha after an encounter in Korangi area. Sources informed that three of the suspects were arrested in injured condition. Police said the accused were involved in street crimes. Three pistols, motorcycles, and drugs have been recovered from their possessions. Separately, two street criminals were arrested by the CIA, SSP investigation informed. The accused were identified as Faizan Khan alias Tidda and Sunny alias Deewan, who were wanted in various cases of street crimes. Police arrested two criminals in separate raids in Ittehad Town area. Two drug peddlers identified as Anwar Shah and Abdul Wahid were arrested. Police also recovered drugs from the possession of the accused. Meanwhile, another accused identified as Muhammad Younus was arrested from Ittehad Town area. Police recovered TT pistol and four rounds of ammunition from him. In the meantime, a robber identified a Nadeem Ahmed was arrested from Machhar Colony. Police have registered two cases against the suspect. Meanwhile, traffic police launched a crackdown against drivers involved in reckless driving in the city on Saturday. Sources informed that 64 drivers were arrested while 178 buses and mini buses plying without fitness certificates were impounded. Traffic police have shifted the arrested drivers to respective police stations. Cases have been registered against the drivers, who will be produced before court, officials said.
