ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervaiz Rashid on Monday said the decision against Mumtaz Qadri was given by the court and the protests over his execution are beyond comprehension. He was speaking to media after inaugurating 10KW medium wave transmitters at Radio Pakistan Karachi. Pervaiz stressed upon the need of spreading the message of peace, love and harmony through media to discourage the haters and extremism and promoting tolerance in society. He praised the role of engineers and administration of the Radio Pakistan for installing transmitter from its resources. He said whole country, particularly Karachi, has paid a huge price because of terrorism, therefore an atmosphere of peace and harmony is required to be promoted in society. Separately, Pervaiz said violence against women in any form is unacceptable. Legislation had been undertaken in this regard and the government is siding with the affected people. he said, adding that “we are proud that we give due respect to women and we are with our mothers, sisters and daughters”. Pervaiz said that instead of repeating mistakes, they should be corrected. He opined if the media adopted a responsible approach then good news would come to the fore. The minister said that the law pertaining to women aimed at providing them protection. Earlier, speaking at the inauguration of the transmitter of Radio Pakistan, the minister said Pakistanis were judicious and well aware and every person in Karachi had paid big price for the bad law and order. “We would have to eliminate the terrorist mindset. Terrorism would be eliminated and the usual hustle and bustle of Karachi would be restored.” Pervaiz said the lack of training leads to lawlessness in society. He congratulated the administration of Radio Pakistan and its engineers who exhibited their ability to implement the project of installation of the transmitter.
