ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has decided to take strict action against illegal medical and dental colleges operating across the country without approval from the council.
According to official sources, doctors having acquired additional medical or dental postgraduate qualifications will only be authorised to practice as specialists in their respective specialty.
The registered medical or dental practitioners having only basic medical or dental qualification are not authorised to carry out specialised procedures and all doctors have been directed to display their PMDC registration certificate prominently at the place of practice, they added. They said that the PMDC would make surprise inspections to check the implementation of this decision.
