‘Waar’ dominates ARY Film Awards with 13 major wins

* ‘Main Hoon Shahid Afridi’ bags the second highest number of awards * Ahsan Khan enthrals audience with unmatched energy while performing on Sajjad Ali’s hits

The first ever ARY Film Awards (AFA) were held in Karachi on Sunday, honouring the films made and released in 2013. Attended by the who’s who of the fashion and film industry, the Pakistani entertainment finally experienced humongous support and immense appreciation at the hands of the entire fraternity present. Bilal Lashari’s terrorism-based film ‘Waar’ won the major awards of the star-studded night, bagging a total of 13 AFAs.
Cinema is indeed power! For a country that has a major chunk of the population addicted to watching films and enjoying the cinema experience more than anything, the Pakistani film industry no doubt, gave its countrymen film after film to look forward to and enjoy.
The award night, which began 2 1/2 hours late, had the eager audience, clad in their designer best, sweating profusely and waiting bemusedly. It was only when super star Shaan Shahid approached the podium, wearing a black, sleek suit, that the audience relaxed and had their eyes glued. Shaan who showed up looking like a million bucks, the audience forgot how tired they were. Shaan began his speech with words that came straight from his heart. 
The Technical Awards were announced first and foremost with Lashari winning a major portion of them amidst cheers and applause. The support and encouragement lent by the film fraternity to the winners was evident in their words on stage and applause whilst in the crowd.
The stunning performances enthralled the audience, with amazing choreography, spot on sound system and beautiful backdrops. Among the many performers of the night that included Babra Sharif, Urva Hoccane, filmstar Noor and Saima, Ahsan Khan stole the show with his energetic performance and dance sequence with Ushna and Urva Hoccane. The star showed off his dance moves with utter grace and style. 
The handsome Humayun Saeed and the young Noman Habib performed with the sensational Mathira on a song from ‘Main Hoon Shahid Afridi’. Young hearththrob Sheheryar Munawar and the promising Sohai Abro danced on a song from the upcoming movie ‘Kambakht’. 
Apart from these star studded performances, the show also featured a glittering line-up of award presenters like Waqar Ali Khan, Saba Qamar and Sangeeta, Tapu Javeri, Maheen Khan, Aijaz Aslam, Noor, Meesha Shafi, Yasir Nawaz and Nida Yasir, HSY, Ayaan, Sanam Baloch, Wasay Chaudhry, Faisal Qureshi, Sunita, Ali Zafar, Mohib Mirza, Ayesha Khan, Nomi Ansari, Sana Bucha, Asadul Haq, Zeba Bakhtiar, Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy, Syed Noor, Saima, Asim Raza, Iman Ali, Humayun Saeed, Humaima, Javed Shiekh and Reema Khan.
