Lahore Int’l Film Fest : City experiences its very own free-of-cost movie marathon

As a part of the Punjab Youth Festival activities involving millions of youth, Super Cinema and Summit Entertainment are adding spice and intensity to the grand occasion and happenings by hosting the Lahore International Film Festival (LIFF) over four days from February 25-28, 2014. A total of 35 plus films are being screened every day at the cinemas located in Vogue Towers, MM Alam Road, Prince and Shabistan Cinemas on Abbot Road and three at Royal Palm Golf and Country Club. On the first two days, Tuesday and Wednesday, 25 films were shown each day and all shows were full with a very broad section of the society showing huge response and keen interest in the whole range of films involving documentaries, short films and feature films.
The audience comprised students of schools, colleges and universities, budding filmmakers who are undergoing movie making courses at the National College of Arts and other universities, top ones of the corporate world and families who can be graded as film fanatics with an understanding of the finer points of what movies are all about.
These movies are productions of filmmakers in Pakistan and there are entries from Iran, Italy, France, Korea India and UK. Some of the entries that have already won huge acclaim are ‘Majjajan’, ‘Nikkay Da Chimta’, ‘A Music Fairy’ (Nazia Hassan), ‘Koh-e-Barobar’ all from Pakistan, ‘Ship of Theseus’ from India and produced by Kiran Rao, ‘Saving Mr Banks’, ‘Places of Heaven’ from Iran and many more.
The organising team of the Punjab Youth Festival are extremely pleased with the youth undergoing media studies at our leading institutions who have submitted their movies for screening as most of the entries sent by students are outstanding. This falls in line with the vision of PYF that invites to DARE TO DREAM. Most certainly the opportunity allows young enthusiasts from all over the country and abroad to express their creativity through this effort. The film festival will continue until Friday.
