KARACHI: Pakistani singer and actor Fawad Khan will play iconic pop singer Alamgir according to his Tweet.

We all remember how Pakistani heartthrob Fawad Khan made it big at first with his rock band Entity Paradigm. Well, it seems like the musician in Khan has not yet died and as a result, the singer cum actor will next be seen in a biopic about legendary Pakistani singer Alamgir.

“At the film announcement of @Albela_Rahi_. Excited to play the role of the legendary #Alamgir,” Khan Tweeted on Sunday.

According to Khan’s Tweet, the movie will be called ‘Albela Rahi’; named after one of the most popular Urdu songs of its time. Alamgir continues to enjoy popularity in Pakistan, since he is considered to be one of the pioneers of Urdu pop music, having sought influence from legendary singer Ahmed Rushdi.

Details pertaining to the film have been kept in the wraps for the time being, except for the fact that the movie will be directed by Sultan Ghani and will be produced by a company known as Fog Catcher. Khan will next be seen opposite Alia Bhatt, Rishi Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra in the Bollywood flick ‘Kapoor & Sons’.

The casting seems to be on point for ‘Albela Rahi’-who better to play the role of a popular musician than Khan?

Fawad Afzal Khan is a Pakistani film and television actor, singer and model. Khan has established himself as a critically and commercially successful actor in the Pakistani dramas and film industry.

Khan rose to prominence in the 2007 Pakistani movie ‘Khuda Kay Liye’ and later gained acclaim as a lead actor in TV shows ‘Humsafar’ and ‘Zindagi Gulzar Hai’ for, which he won the Best Actor Award at the Lux Style Awards. In 2014, Khan made his Bollywood debut in the romantic comedy film ‘Khoobsurat’ and received Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut.

Alamgir is a versatile singer and is one of the pioneers of the Urdu pop music in Pakistan. His style of singing is inspired by playback singer Rushdi. In April 2013, Alamgir joined Meesha Shafi, Strings, Ali Azmat and Shahzad Hassan as a judge on the immensely popular singing talent show ‘Music Icons’.
