Pantene Bridal Couture Week 2014 : Top 3 bridal picks!

* As the bridal fever subsides post the Pantene Bridal Couture Week (PBCW) 2014, we, at Daily Times, reveal our top bridal picks from all three days of the event. * All the designers had worked super hard and it showed with their respective collection, however, there were indeed some outfits that truly stood out and had everyone talking! With the wedding season doing rounds all year long, we have suggestions for would-be-brides to help them out with their D-day wedding dress selection.

Ali Xeeshan: The designer’s collection was part of the Powerhouse of Fashion segment on Day 2 and boy did we just fall in love with the bridal worn by Ayyan Ali for Ali Xeeshan. The dress, which is part of the collection inspired by the old school rasam of gaana khillai consisted of a colour palette of ivory with gold, green and silver borders. The fabric was white chikkan kaari with embellishments of gota. The dupatta, which was very signature Ali Xeeshan was set in net with large green embroidered paisleys. Gota and kirran was hemmed on all four sides of it. Rs 100,000 white chiffon gota dupatta, Rs 200,000 gharara, Rs 80,000 shirt and second dupatta

Kuki Concepts: Designer Kuki for Kuki Concepts opened Show 2 on Day 1 with his bridal collection titled ‘Bidaai’. Model Sabeeka Imam carried our top pick with grace and style wearing a vintage tissue ghaghra measuring 40 yards. The gold and orange colour palette of the ghaghra with a vintage Banarasi border was exquisite in its appeal, perfectly complemented by a dark-hued short low-cut velvet blouse with 80-year-old vintage Banarasi to go with the sleeves as well as the same Banarasi material used as the border for the front/back. For the dupatta, karchob ka kaam was done throughout. The beautiful dark shade of green to go with the blouse with a delicacy about it caught our eye more than anything. What a stunning outfit indeed! Rs 60,000 tissue ghaghra, Rs 45,000 velvet blouse, Rs 95,000 dupatta Total: Rs 200,000

HSY: Hassan Sheheryar Yasin of designer brand HSY closed the PBCW 2014 with his collection titled ‘Orchid’. One of the outfits truly caught our attention worn by Neha Ahmed – rich in desi culture and exuding a charming appeal, apt for a very traditional look. Layered in three, on the top is a jacket with pitta work and mirrori. The lower layer is in makesh with kora and pearl embroidery and the last layer is worked in white thread embroidery and zari touched with subtle gota hints. The entire ensemble is in chiffon with two dupattas; one in net and one in chiffon with organza lining. The chooridar under the shirt had thread embroidery all over. The colours are those of an orchid. Indeed a new direction for the future bride for this season! We loved the colour palette of pink, white, gold and silver. Price: Available on request
