And the fashion fever continues! Day 2 of the prestigious PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week continued on Friday with eight designers showcasing their Spring/Summer 2014 prêt and luxury prêt collection.
The evening began with a High Street Fashion Segment, featuring the likes of debuting brand Beech Tree, Arooj Ahmed and Kayseria.
Beech Tree has successfully created a niche for itself, and graced the ramp with a collection titled, ‘Bohemian Summer,’ combining leisure and luxury, and evoking a sense of calm and cool elegance for the blazing hot summer ahead.
Following Beech Tree was designer Arooj Ahmed who presented a high street collection titled ‘Retro Military’. For this line, Ahmed was inspired from the burgeoning trend of androgyny, amalgamating the traditionally masculine military look with the feminine chic look of the retro era.
Kayseria concluded the High Street Fashion Segment with their Kat Putli collection, inspired by Kutch Rabari mirror work. Kayseria’s prêt ensembles had been meticulously crafted by artisans hailing from Kutch, and the brand has effectively struck a chord with the masses, due to its distinct aesthetic.
The Designer Showcase segment was opened by esteemed Karachi-based designer Shehla Chatoor who showcased her ‘Samsara’ collection, the Circle of Life, being presented as a circle of fashion where new trends are born and they fade away giving way to the birth of new trends. “I feel truly satisfied with my Samsara collection and hopefully everyone liked the accessories I’ve introduced this time,” Chatoor said while talking exclusively to Daily Times.
Designer label Teena by Hina Butt was up next with her collection ‘Rukn-e-Alam: Pillars of the World’. Perfect for a complete summer look, her vibrant and contrasting colour palette was a hit. The young and dynamic entrepreneur and politician outdid herself this year, with Multani blue and white pottery inspired outfits on silks, cottons and chiffons.
The first show of Act 2 was presented by acclaimed couturier Deepak Perwani, who made his PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week debut with ‘Tre’s Chic – Extension’, a Spring/Summer 2014 collection inspired by the chic trendy woman who loves to dress up. The video, featuring Fouzia Aman, preceding the collection enacted what Perwani’s inspiration was; women owning up to who they are, feeling secure with their womanhood and sensuality and flaunting it with poise and grace. Printed and solid silks, chiffons, and cottons embellishments to go with long flowy dresses and kaftans – just in time for summer!
Luxury prêt brand MUSE showcased their breathtaking Foil Wrapped Candy collection, introducing a new range of luxe fabrics, sourced exclusively from top Italian and French houses. Their fashion forward and adventurous cuts and bright colour palette, paired with metallic belts, were a huge hit with the crowd. Indeed a collection for a woman who wants to stand out and make a statement.
Day 2’s finale was presented by premier luxury designer label Élan who showcased their Spring/Summer 2014 collection, ‘Art Struck Élan’. Creative Head Khadijah Shah nailed it with a young, eclectic, vibrant and a very feminine collection, which transported one to another world. The chic skirts, statement jackets, and bubble dresses with funky accessories and embellishments ensured Khadijah Shah received a standing ovation from the crowd.
