LAHORE: Telenor Bridal Couture Week’s autumn/winter instalment hosted the country’s fashionistas, designers, prominent members of the media fraternity and the fashion industry to a night of nine designer showcases. Shazia Kiyani Shazia Kiyani’s ‘Woven Dreams’ immortalising glamour and timeless style was one of the most fabulous collections of the night. The use of colour contrasts was splendid. a standout outfit was one which featured a short orange shirt with shalwar, sequined with gold. Red velvet shawls, subtle shades of beige and ivory with cotton net lehngas were excitingly displayed. Kiyani’s showstopper – the actress Fizza looked radiant in a red and gold sharara choli. Hassan ShehEryar Yasin Hassan Shehryar Yasin began Act One with the usual fireworks, embellishments and embroidery all around. With an East meets West fusion, there were voluminous lehngas, sequined jump suits and chiffon ghararas. The trail overcoats on top of tissue fabric maxis stood out. For men, there were short sherwani coats paired with pants. Satin and cotton kurtas with embroidered waistcoats for men were paired with pyjamas. Aisha Imran Aisha Imran’s ‘The Heritage’ turned out to be a very marketable collection. Prominent reds with gold contrast fused in net fabric were the highlights of her collection. Using a wider colour palette for a something-for-everyone approach, Imran used shades of orange, blue, fuchsia and off white for lehnga choli, angrakhas and kurta shalwar. Zarmisha Dar Zarmisha Dar was up next with her collection titled Lumiere. The cut work jackets with straight white pants, the baby pinks, parrot greens and bright pinks stood out. Dar’s showstopper grey lehnga choli with bright pink floral embroidery looked beautiful. Nickie Nina The dream team Nickie Nina ended Act Two with their collection Ne Shikar. Satin and embellished shirts, with low cut backs, red and gold lehngas and box pouches and clutches stood out. Short shirts with straights pants and a duppata with belt as a tie, added a graceful touch to the collection. Zaheer Abbas Zaheer Abbas began Act Two with this collection titled Baad-e-Naubahar, inspired by a soulful sonnet of the poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz. Based on a colour palette of black, plush pinks, pastels and rich tones of maroons, the collection showcased master craftsmanship with intricate hand embroideries in thread, naqshi, gota and crystals. Ziggi Menswear Ziggi Menswear with their Shahnama collection were inspired by the illustrations of the poet Ferdowsi. The designs were an experiment of different lengths and styles. Kali kurtas and sherwanis were the highlight of the collection. Sara RohalE Asghar Sara Rohale Asghar was up next with her collection titled Blooming Rose of Eve’s Garden. The elaborate garments, laden with embellishments and ethereal silhouettes looked radiant and very graceful. Honey Waqar Veteran designer Honey Waqar ended Day 1 with a very powerful message depicting love, intellect, healing and empowerment. A collection for the modern yet traditional bride, Waqar’s work was rich in quality, texture and colour. THE RED CARPET ROUND-UP Our pick of the red carpet’s finest Erum Khan Erum Khan in one of her own designs, wears a monochrome outfit – white satin pants with a low cut top, completing her look with a white fur scarf Rubia Mughees Rubia Mughees wore a Teena by Hina Butt outfit – green net shirt with floral prints and emperor sleeves. Amna Ilyas Model-turned-actress Amna Ilyas wore Khaadi Khaas, dominating the red carpet in a white pant suit and a mink scarf Khadija Faisal Socialite Khadija Faisal wears black tights paired with an organza sequined poncho Sarah Gandapur Sarah Gandapur went for a gold body-hugging dress with lace skirt and a thinly sequined upper
