Kiyani, Lodhi main contestants for MD KSE

By Farhan Shairf

KARACHI: The management of the Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) has received eighteen applications for the post of managing director of the exchange, in which, till now, Khaliq Kiyani and MA Lodhi, appear to be the main contestants for the seat, according to the sources in the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and KSE.

“It would be a tough competition, since it’s like choosing the best of the professionals from a big list,” said the sources. “However, some names stand out due to their previous services and understanding of the market and the job of front line regulator.”

According to the sources, Mr Kiyani, known for his services in banking and regulatory authorities, is on the top, and is likely to be selected for the seat. The second most potential candidate Mr Lodhi. However, due to the requirements of his services in the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) he may not be selected for the job at the KSE.
