District govt starts database plan with SUPARCO’s help

Gujranwala: The Gujranwala District Government has started working on a programme in collaboration with the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) to create a database. The programme will be based on the latest scientific techniques, providing a variety of information around the clock. A meeting in this context was held at the Gujranwala district coordination officer’s (DCO) Office, where SUPARCO Director Imran Iqbal provided details about the programme. Gujranwala DCO Fazeel Asghar, Tehsil Nazim Wing Commander (r) Mubashir Ahmed Cheema, Noshera Wirkan Tehsil Nazim Sardar Tariq Raza, Tehsil Municipal Officer (TMO) Sadar Mehmood Tamana, city TMO Zubair Hussain Nutt, Agricultural Executive District Officer (EDO) Shah Muhammad Alvi, Community Development EDO Khawaja Farooq Haider, Rasheed Bhutta advocate and other concerned government officers were also present at the meeting. SUPARCO Director Imran Iqbal said that by the dint of this programme, Gujranwala District Government might get revolutionary results in the fields of education, health, peace-making, agriculture and other development projects, since the programme would not only provide an access to the required information but would also help check the crime rate and corruption. SUPARCO would provide pictures, maps and other information to the district government using satellites, which would help the district government to focus its projects. Mr Iqbal said that using the information about urban population, road networks and identification of development schemes, the district government and the Tehsil Municipal Administration would be able to handle any emergency. DCO Fazeel Asghar hoped that the programme would soon be commenced. staff report
