Israel demolishes Palestinian suspect’s house
BETHLEHEM: The family home of a Palestinian militant accused of planning several suicide attacks against Israeli targets was demolished in the West Bank town of Bethlehem overnight, the army said on Sunday.
Palestinian security sources said that 20-year-old Mohamed Isa Mohamed Maali was a member of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades, an armed offshoot of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat’s Fatah movement.
According to an army statement, Maali had dispatched the suicide bomber who killed 11 Israeli civilians on a bus in Jerusalem on February 22. The demolitions had been carried out as “a message to the terrorists and their accomplices, showing that there is a price to pay for their actions”, it said, adding that such demolitions would continue.
Meanwhile Israeli military sources said the army had also arrested three wanted Palestinians in the West Bank overnight. afp
