Police trades robbers for cash

LAHORE: SSP Operations Amir Zulifqar Khan, after receiving information from sources, ordered inquiry against police officer for allegedly releasing robbers after getting bribes. Model Town SP Waqar Abbasi, following the SSP’s orders, conducted a surprise raid at Naseerabad police station on Friday.

Source said that ASI Muhammad Hussain Kitchi had arrested a gang and recovered gold jewellery from them. Later, the police released them after getting Rs 100,000 as bribe while keeping the stolen jewellery. SSP Amir said, “If the officer is proven guilty, he would be arrested because the system cannot survive with corrupt police officers.”
