Wife fears for detained husband’s life
Staff Report
HYDERABAD: Fauzia Saharan, wife of Ghulam Nabi Saharan, a leader of the Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz (JSMM), claimed at a press conference here on Friday intelligence agencies’ operatives picked up her husband four days back without any criminal charges against him and feared he might be killed in a fake encounter.
Speaking at Hyderabad Press Club, she claimed agencies’ operatives picked up her husband at their house in Qasimabasd in Bhitai Nagar police limits on July 4.
She said Saharan was a government employee serving at Thermal Power House, Jamshoro, and had never been involved in any criminal activities nor was he wanted by the police. She claimed her husband had been detained only because of his political affiliation with the JSMM, saying he had not been produced in a court of law so far.
She appealed to all political parties, particularly Sindhi nationalist parties, legislators from Sindh and human rights organisations, to raise their voice against the detention of her husband and act to save his life.
She warned the government if her husband was not released in three days, she would commit self-immolation.
