Govt to decide about Sharif’s passport today
By Mohammad Imran
ISLAMABAD: The government is set to reject former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his spouse Kulsoom Nawaz’s application to renew their passports allegedly because they both do not have computerised identity cards.
The government will inform the former prime minister and his wife of the decision today (Saturday). The government does not accept applications for the renewal of passports without a computerized identity cards, a pre-condition likely to be applied to Nawaz Sharif’s request.
“The Pakistani consul general in Jeddah will inform Capt (r) Safdar, Nawaz’s son-in-law, today about the government’s decision on the passport renewal application,” PML-N sources informed Daily Times. They said Safdar was also informed by the diplomat that he would not comment on what the government’s would be. Sidique-ul-Farooq, central secretary information of PML-N, said “we fear the government will not give a passport to Mian Nawaz Sharif.”
