Six held for firing at Army officer
Staff Report
LAHORE: Teams of intelligence agencies and city police late on Thursday night raided the house of notorious criminal Quma Qasaie to arrest his son Zubair alias Zubairi for allegedly firing at an army officer.
The police teams did not find Zubair and arrested his six gunmen and took them to an undisclosed location. Dr Usman Anwar, City Division police superintendent (SP), denied the raid.
Reportedly, Lt Najib and his friend Imran Mehmood Shah visited the Tourist Street for dinner in a private car on June 18. When they were returning home, a vehicle carrying armed men collided with their car. Four armed men from the vehicle and five from another vehicle, which was following it, allegedly insulted Lt Najib and his friend and later opened fire at them.
They riddled the army officer’s car with bullets, but he and his friend were not hurt. The accused fled the scene. Najib noted the registration number of one of the vehicles and contacted the Old Anarkali police. Police registered a case against 10 unidentified men and started investigation. Police traced the accused, who were identified as Zubair alias Zubari and his bodyguards.
