Naqvi exempted from appearing in court
Staff Report
ISLAMABAD: Anti-terrorism Court Rawalpindi Judge Manzoor Mirza on Saturday exempted Allama Sajid Naqvi, president of Pakistan Islami Tehreek, from appearing in the court in connection with the Maulana Azam Tariq murder case.
Zulifqar Naqvi, defence counsel of Mr Naqvi, filled the exemption application citing security reasons. He said that a spate of sectarian violence and terrorism had re-erupted and his client was apprehensive about his security.
The investigation officer failed to submit the case properly in the court, so the court adjourned the hearing till May 15.
Amanullaha Sial, one of the nominated accused in the Azam Tariq murder case, was present in the court.
