Student recovered from police
GUJRANWALA A court bailiff raided Noshehran Virkan police station on Saturday and recovered student Irfan Rafique from the illegal custody of the station house officer and Assistant Sub-Inspector Ashiq Bajwa. The bailiff raided the police station on the order of District and Sessions Judge Riazul Hassan Alvi. Irfan’s father Rafique had filed a petition saying the ASI had arrested his son illegally. The judge summoned the SHO and ASI and ordered the district police officer to investigate and submit a report in seven days. Meanwhile, Additional District and Sessions Judge Sarwar Zaman issued arrest warrants for ASI Mushtaq and withheld his salary until the next order. Mr Mushtaq did not appear in the court as a witness in a murder case, despite repeated summons. Special Anti-terrorism Court Judge Syed Iftikhar Hussain remanded Naeem and his 23 accomplices into judicial custody. They are charged with killing seven people, including 3 Shia leaders, outside Imambargha Qasre-Al-e-Imran in Mandi Bahauddin. The same judge, in the murder case of former law minister Chaudhry Farooq Ahmed, recorded the statements of two witnesses on the order of the Lahore High Court.Additional District and Sessions Judge Rai Muhammad Ayub sentenced Nasir, a convicted drug trafficker, to two years of rigorous imprisonment and fined him Rs 5,000. staff report
