Bar libraries get Rs 2.6 million
LAHORE: Justice Iftikhar Hussain Chaudhry, the acting Punjab governor, has released a Rs 2.6 million grant for the libraries of various district and tehsil bar associations.
Officials of Lahore Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Layyiah and Pakpatan bar associations called on Justice Chaudhry at Governor’s House on Wednesday. The acting governor gave them the grant cheques. The acting governor expressed his satisfaction over relations between the bar and the bench. He said lawyers should cooperate with the government in providing justice in remote areas. Sheikh Ahmed Farooq, the Punjab law secretary, Tanvirur Rehman Randhawa, the Punjab Bar Council vice chairman, and Azam Nazir Tarrar, the Lahore High Court Bar Association secretary, were also present. staff report
