‘No decision yet on LHC razing’

LAHORE: No decision has yet been taken on the demolition of a part of the Lahore High Court building, Punjab Minister for Communication and Works Chaudhy Zaheeruddin has said. The minister was responding to a point of order raised by opposition member Rana Aftab Ahmed Khan in the Punjab Assembly here on Tuesday. Mr Khan said that the LHC building had been declared a national heritage building under the Special Premises Act and it could not be demolished, only renovated. Mr Zaheeruddin said that all relevant laws would be considered and the matter would be discussed with the chief minister before a final decision was made. He said the government was committed to protecting the nation’s heritage. app
