Delegation of physicians meets senior officials

LAHORE: A delegation of specialist doctors called on senior government officials on Sunday. Dr Tanveerul Hassain Zubairi, Punjab Specialists Association president, led the delegates who met Tariq Mahmood, Establishment deputy secretary, Dr Ahmed Bilal, an additional secretary, and Rashida Malik, Punjab health secretary, and discussed matters relating to specialist doctors. The delegates suggested that wages of specialist doctors working in tehsil headquarters hospitals and remote areas should be enhanced to a minimum of Rs 37,000 per month and they be provided an official residence or a Rs 10,000 house rent allowance.

The delegates proposed that minimum salary for doctors working in district headquarters hospitals should be Rs 33,000 per month. The delegation consisted of Dr Alvina Mansoor, general secretary, Dr Zahid Ahmad Khan, Dr Mansoor Ahmad and Dr Nasir Mahmood. staff report
