Cattle insurance in Punjab

LAHORE: The Punjab government will introduce a cattle insurance scheme to rural areas after the crop insurance scheme, Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said on Saturday. He said the move would strengthen the livestock sector.
“A strategy has been evolved to implement and provide necessary information about crop insurance to farmers,” Mr Elahi told a meeting which reviewed the pace of the implementation of the crop insurance policy.
He said the crop insurance scheme would revolutionise the agricultural economy for which the Bank of Punjab (BoP) would play an active role
Mr Elahi said that he hoped the crop insurance policy would help farmers increase production.
Officials of the Bank of Punjab and other institutions concerned attended the meeting.
