600 Pakistani deportees reach Karachi
KARACHI: Over six hundred Pakistanis who were reportedly arrested in Muscat, Oman, in the last few months for illegally entering the country, arrived at Karachi Port’s Ghas Bandar in the Keamari area on Saturday. Omani authorities released these Pakistanis on Wednesday.
The released Pakistanis were received by representatives of a non-government organisation after reaching the port on Al-Muhammadi-II. Officials of the Federal Investigation Agency were also present for procedural matters.
Some complained that 600-plus passengers were made to travel on a boat with a capacity of 400 passengers. They also reportedly alleged that they faced food and drinking problems during their travel amid hot and humid conditions. Ansar Burney, Syed Fahad Burney and Syed Sarim Burney of the Ansar Burney Welfare Trust received the Pakistanis. The deportees thanked Burney for helping in securing their releases. staff report
